We have just received this message from Unite and we would like to share it with you.

Dear friend,

Thank you for attending the PCS/Unite Community Social Security Summit in late October which we hope you found useful. This was a historic event bringing together benefit claimants with PCS members who work in job centres. One of the delegates, Gerry from Unite Community Leeds branch wrote a great blog about the day which highlights some of the interesting workshops we attended and speeches we heard.

At the conference we promised to take what we learnt on the and create a campaigning guide, please find the campaigning guide attached. 2016 provides us with many opportunities to highlight the gross injustice of the cuts the Tories have made to our welfare safety net. Together we can make a difference and win support from people who are unaware of how millions of people are turning to foodbanks and making choices on whether to heat their homes or feed and clothe their children.

Also make sure you have Wednesday 16th March in your diary for Unite Community’s national day of action against sanctions. Last year we organised 80 actions across the UK to highlight the suffering that benefit sanctions cause.Wednesday 16th March 2016 will be even bigger so please help us build for this day. PCS are backing this day of action and their members will be working with Unite Community members to make the day a great success.

We look forward to campaigning with you in the new year.

Best regards
